Angelina KALININA: “I’m ready for the third round match”
Ukraine’s first racket Angelina Kalinina commented on her defeat of Petra Kvitova in the second round of the Australian Open.
“I was incredibly supported by the audience today. This is my first Australian Open to qualify for the second round and I’m incredibly happy to have made it to the third round right away.
The Ukrainian flags in the stands mean a lot to me. My country supports me but I also want to thank the Australians, I felt a lot of emotional support today. Without such support, I would not have been able to make it today.
Kvitova is an aggressive style player. There were key moments today where I played a little more confidently and had the advantage, but I could be thrown in all directions. I’m so glad everything turned out the way it was.
I think I’m ready for the third round match, but I never watch tournament matches. I think it is stupid to look ahead, ”said Kalinina.
In the third round, Kalinina will play against Barbora Kreychikova (WTA #23) or Clara Burel (WTA #130).
