Tsitsipas – Hijikata 3: 0: Stefanos Sifunas flew into the third round of the Australian Open
Stefanos Tsitsipas played until he won 3-0 sets against Hijikata and advanced to the third round of the Australian Open.
Without encountering any particular difficulties, Stefanos Tsitsipas won a 3-0 set against Hijikata and qualified for the third round of the Australian Open.
In the next phase, the Greek tennis player meets the winner of the Dutch civil game between Kriekspor and van de Zandschulp on Friday (20 January).
The match: The fight started more or less as we expected as Tsitsipas tried to find his footing and read his opponent while Hijikata ran relentlessly.
The fate of the first set was essentially decided in the sixth game. There the 24-year-old Greek tennis player reached the break and then simply held his serve to make it 1-0 6-3.
In the second, Tsitsipas started with a break, then deleted two of his opponent’s breakballs to take a 2-0 lead. The second break came shortly after, and Hijikata looked disappointed with how the second game had gone.
The Australian with Japanese roots could not resist Steph at any point in the second set, which made it 2-0 (6-0) without losing a game.
In the third set, Hijikata played more freely, having nothing to lose, and hit some impressive shots. However, Tsitsipas controlled the situation.
The fourth and fifth games were crucial. In the first, the Greek tennis player cleared his opponent’s double break point and then broke Hijikata’s serve to gain the upper hand in the set.
From then on, only the final score remained, Tsitsipas finished the set and the match 6: 2.
