Casper Rudd suffered a surprise loss to Jenson Brooksby in 3-1 sets to end his run at the Australian Open in the second round.

After Rafael Nadal and No. 2 on the board in Melbourne, Casper Rudd retired early from the Australian Open.

Making his debut in the first Grand SLMA of the year, 22-year-old Jenson Brooksby prevailed after a superb performance 6-3, 7-5, 6-7(4), 6-2 of Norway and reached the 3rd round of the competition.

World No. 39 Brooksby didn’t lose his composure when Rudd came back in the 3rd set after 2-5 games and saved 3 match points from the American to go 2-1 behind. The Norwegian’s momentum was short-lived after Brooksby decisively won the fourth set and completed his triumph after 3 hours and 55 minutes of action at the Rod Laver Arena.
