Murray 3-2 Kokkinakis: 4am epic surprise for the heroic 35-year-old Scotsman

Andy Murray (No. 66) overcame Thanasis Kokkinakis (No. 159) after five hours and 45 minutes to win 3-2 sets. The game ended after 4am (Australian time).

A very long game was played for the round of 64 of the Australian Open. Andy Murray (No. 66) won Thanasis Kokkinakis (No. 159) 3-2 and even got a reverse after five hours and 45 minutes. In fact, the race ended after four in the morning (Australian time).


Kokkinakis was very close to victory as he pulled out a 2-0 set lead (6-4, 7-6). In the third set they even led 5:2. However, Murray did not give up and accelerated.


The 35-year-old Scot won the third set 7:6 and comfortably equalized 6:3. In the final set, the two athletes went hand in hand, with Murray managing to break to 7-5.

Andy Murray’s next opponent in the round of 32 is the world number 25. Bautista Agut.
