Stormy Sfiodek in Melbourne is on its way

Iga Sfiodek overcame the obstacle of the Spaniard Buksa without sweating and now meets Rybakina in the round of 16 of the Australian Open. Qualifications also for Pegula and Goff.

A healthy walk was made by Iga Sfiodek in her third match in Melbourne and easily secured a ticket for the round of 16 at the Australian Open. The table and world No. 1 needed just 55 minutes to go past Spanish qualifier Christina Buksa’s obstacle with an impressive 6-0, 6-1 at Margaret Court Arena.

Buksa might have pulled off a great surprise win over Bianca Andreescu in the 2nd round, but she couldn’t do anything against Sfiodek. The 21-year-old Pole was concentrated and dominant from the start and reduced her opponent to a completely passive role with her pluralistic play.

With 15 winners and only 5 unforced errors, Sfiondek finished the match, which didn’t even allow Buksa to create conditions for a break and showed that it was ready for the most difficult continuation involving confrontation Elena Rybakina in the 4th round of the Happy Slam.

The 23-year-old from Kazakhstan, No. 22 on the board, had previously pulled off a terrific win over Danielle Collins 6-2 5-7 6-2 to qualify for the ’16’ of the tournament for the first time.
