Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov should enjoy reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, his performance at the tournament is already successful, according to former world No. 1 Yevgeny Kafelnikov.

In the match of the 1/8 finals, Khachanov defeated the Japanese Yoshito Nishioka and in the next round he will meet with the American Sebastian Korda, who knocked out Daniil Medvedev from the tournament in the 1/16 finals.

– I already consider Karen’s performance successful. He needs to enjoy this moment now, reaching the quarterfinals.

Further, of course, a serious opponent. We expect Khachanov to emerge victorious from this confrontation, but it will not be easy for him. Korda is at the peak of his form, he plays with enthusiasm and confidence. It all depends on how the circumstances develop, it will be difficult, but everything is possible,” Kafelnikov told Sport24.

Korda and Khachanov are the first pair of quarter-finalists of the current Australian Open. The 26-year-old Russian has never gone beyond the third round at an Australian Grand Slam before.
