Australian Open: Bautista Agut stops emotional Murray
Andy Murray fought hard against Roberto Bautista Agut but the Spaniard prevailed 3-1 in the set to advance to the fourth round of the Australian Open.
Andy Murray’s run at the Australian Open was halted in the third round of the tournament after Roberto Bautista Agut prevailed 3-1.
The Brit was exciting again, giving it his all on the pitch but this time it wasn’t enough to qualify against the world No. 25.
The opening set 4t ended easily in the hands of the Spaniard, who easily went 6-1 with two breaks in games two and six.
We also had a quick break from Bautista Agut early in the second set, but it didn’t go that way this time. Murray responded in the eighth game with a breakback and then took the set 7: 6 (7) in the tie-break.
The fight continued for the rest of the match but with a break at critical points, the Spaniard went on to win the next two sets 6-3, 6-4 to seal qualification.

Four Ukrainian tennis players were included in the doubles entry list Australian Open 2025.
Ukrainian women will play in the doubles tournament on the courts of Melbourne: Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya, Lyudmila Kichenok and Nadezhda Kichenok. Unfortunately, there will be no all-Ukrainian tandem in Australia.
Kostyuk will perform alongside Elena-Gabriela Ruse at the Aus Open, and Yastremskaya will play alongside Alisha Parks.
Lyudmila and Nadezhda will not play together at AO-2026, although they will start the season with the same duet in the Brisbane 500 meters. It was announced that Lyudmila will be with Katie Volynets, and Nadezhda will be with Makoto Ninomiya.
Australian Open 2026 will take place from January 12 to February 1. Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya and Alexandra Oleynikova will represent Ukraine in singles. Yulia Starodubtseva, Angelina Kalinina, Daria Snigur and Vitaly Sachko will perform in the eliminations.
