On 23 January, the fourth round matches of the Australian Open tennis championship took place in the lower half of the women’s tournament.

The tournament was left by the highest-rated tennis player remaining on this part of the grid – Caroline Garcia, who lost to Magda Lynette. Polka qualified for the 1/4 finals of the Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career.

Donna Vekic defeated Czech 17-year-old Linda Frugvirtova and will play in the major quarterfinals for the second time.

Karolina Pliskova easily coped with the Chinese Zhang Shuai. This will be the fourth entry in the top eight for the Czech at the Australian Open.

In the central match of the match day, Belinda Bencic lost to Arina Sabolenko.
