2016 Olympic champion in doubles Elena Vesnina believes that experience and luck helped Andrey Rublev defeat Dane Holger Rune in the fourth round of the Australian Open.
– Incredible victory for Andrey. A big fellow: he won back match points, lost 0:5 in a tie-break, and was able to overcome himself. He had certain problems: he couldn’t play confidently on his serve. Rune also played amazingly.
Both deserved to win, but Andrey is well done for bringing it to the end. There was a feeling that the experience should help Rublev. At the decisive moment, Rune faltered. Of course, it wasn’t without luck. If only it were always like this at matchball, ”Vesnina told the Championship.
