Shelton continues his impressive run at the Australian Open, winning 3-2 against Wolf

Ben Shelton beat Jay Jay Wolff 3-2 in sets and continued his excellent run to reach the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.

In just his second Grand Slam appearance since his debut at the 2022 US Open, Ben Shelton is through to the quarterfinals of the 2023 Australian Open after an impressive fourth-round win over JJ Wolfe on Monday.

The 20-year-old American prevailed after an exciting battle 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-7(4), 7-6(4), 6-2 his compatriot and continued his fairytale run in Melbourne, where one of Tommy Paul or Roberto Bautista Agut awaits in the quarter-finals.

The world No. 89 saved both of Wolff’s break points in the match while he earned four breaks himself and finished the match with 64 winners and 41 unforced errors, compared to his opponent’s 60 and 54 respectively.

In the 1st round, Shelton beat Zhang in a match tiebreak in the 5th set, followed by back-to-back wins over Nikolas Yari and Alexei Popirin.
