Stefanos Tsitsipas played as much as needed, winning a 3-0 set against Jiri Lehetska and reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open where he will face Karen Khachanov.

Stefanos Tsitsipas’ excellent run at the Australian Open continues. The 24-year-old Greek tennis player (No. 4 in the world) won a 3-0 set against Yiri Lehetska to qualify for the semi-finals for the fourth time.

There he meets Karen Khachanov next Friday (27.01.). The world No. 20 overcame the obstacle of Korda who fell 0-2 behind.

The match: Stefanos Tsitsipas started the match strongly and wanted to dominate the pitch from the start. The 24-year-old Greek held serve before setting the stage to claim the break.

He finally got it on the fifth break point he had, and that’s where the first set was actually decided. Tsitsipas had no trouble holding serve after that and going 1-0 to 6-4 in total control.

In the second set we had almost the same start, but with different protagonists. Lehetska managed five break points in game four but Tsitsipas managed to get out of the difficult position.

In the following games, the two athletes held their serves and so we were led into the tie-break. Tsitsipas was dominant there, dropping just two points to finish the set 7-6 (2).

The battle between the two tennis players continued in the third set, with Lehetska trying to push as much as possible as he had absolutely nothing to lose.

The Czech achieved a triple break point in the seventh game, but Tsitsipas again managed to get out of the difficult situation. Stef started to put pressure on Lehetska and finally broke serve in the tenth game to take the set 6-4 and win.
