Alexei Selivanenko, Vice President of the Russian Tennis Federation, member of the ITF Board of Directors, called the entry of Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov into the semi-finals at the Australian Open a major achievement.

In the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, Khachanov met with the American Sebastian Korda, who refused to fight in the third set with the score 7:6 (6:3), 6:3, 3:0 in favor of the Russian. Thus, the 26-year-old native of Moscow made it to the semi-finals of the Grand Slam tournament for the second time in a row, the previous one was the US Open‑2022.

– Karen shows a stable game, he is on the rise. In all matches at the Australian Open, including today, he acted with the maximum degree of concentration and used all his strengths. At Grand Slam tournaments, even getting into the top eight is already a significant success. Therefore, I think that reaching the semi-finals of this series for the second time in a row is a serious achievement for Khachanov, and it says a lot,” Selivanenko told Vprognoze.ru.

Khachanov will face the winner of the match between Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas and Czech Jiri Legechka in the Australian Open semi-finals.
