Former world No. 1 Yevgeny Kafelnikov admitted to RB Sport that he was not surprised by the defeat of Russian Andrei Rublev from Serb Novak Djokovic with a score of 1:6, 2:6, 4:6 in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
— The final score did not surprise me. I have noticed many times already that the closer Djokovic is to the title, the better he plays. His concentration on the court was just phenomenal. Therefore, unfortunately, Andrei did not have a chance today.
But Andrei can definitely bring the tournament to his asset. The second week, the quarter-final is a good performance. Another thing is that he was a little unlucky with the fact that he went to Djokovic at this stage. Otherwise, you could still count on something, – said Kafelnikov.
Djokovic’s next opponent at the Australian Open will be American Tommy Paul, ranked 35th in the ranking.
