Khachanov – Tsitsipas 1-3: Stefanos equalizes, advances to Australian Open final

There, Tsitsipas left his opponent in no doubt. Khachanov managed to pick up just two points and Steph finished the set 7-6 (2).


Stefanos Tsitsipas only managed a triple break point in the third game of the second set, but Karen Khachanov was able to hold his serve.

The two tennis players were able to hold their serve until the ninth game. Then Stefanos Tsitsipas created the break that proved crucial after holding serve to close the set 6-4.


In the third set, Tsitsipas pressed the break early and was successful in the third game. Khachanov didn’t give up and in game ten, when Steph served to close the game, he managed to win back the break.

The two then held serve to set the tiebreak. Stefanos Tsitsipas had a double match point there but the Russian wiped out both to win the set 7-6 (6) to stay alive in the match.


Despite the way he lost the third set, Steph kept his cool and even started the fourth set with a break to take a 3-0 lead.
