DOHA, Qatar – Estonia’s Anett Kontaveit advanced to the WTA final in Doha on Friday, defeating Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko in a straight set, 6-1, 6-4.

The 4th and 7th player in the world, Kontaveit had already beaten Ostapenko in a semifinal two weeks ago and then won the final of the tournament in St. Petersburg, Russia. Ostapenko sees her nine-game winning streak end after Sunday’s title in Dubai and this week’s victories in Doha against Garbine Muguruza and Barbora Krejcikova, both former Grand Slam winners.

The other semifinal of Doha was the Polish Iga Swiatek with the Greek Maria Sakkari on Friday, defeated in the final of St. Petersburg two weeks ago by … Kontaveit.
