Djokovic – Paul 3-0: Strong qualification for the Australian Open final for Nole, where he will meet Tsitsipas
Novak Djokovic completely controlled Tommy Paul’s 3-0 set and met Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final of the Australian Open (January 29, 10:30 a.m.).
Novak Djokovic continued his impressive run at the Australian Open, defeating Tommy Paul 3-0 and meeting Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final (January 29, 10:30 a.m., Eurosport 1).
Except for part of the first set, Nole had no problems at all and will be dueling with the 24-year-old Greek for the title and number 1 in the world rankings next Sunday.
The match: The match started with Novak Djokovic pinning Tommy Paul to the ropes. Nole went 3-0 up with a quick break and then added another to make it 5-1.
At that point, the 25-year-old American started to play better and took advantage of Djokovic’s irritation (he had a dialogue with the referee about his towel) and managed to level the set by winning the next four games.
However, Nole responded and won the next two games to finish the first set 7-5.
The second set was almost identical to the first. This time Nole led 5:0, Paul shortened to 5:1, but this time the Serb didn’t feel like playing and ended the set 6:1.
In the third movement we had a similar picture. Tsitsipas set the stage from the start, took a 4-0 lead and then simply sealed the set and the match 6-2.
