Tsitsipas-Djokovic 0-3: The great Tsitsipas is eliminated as the unlikely Djokovic wins the 10th Australian Open

Stefanos Tsitsipas produced another great performance but it wasn’t enough to defeat Novak Djokovic who won 3-0 sets to win his 22nd career Grand Slam and 10th Australian Open.

Stefanos Tsitsipas put up a great fight against Novak Djokovic but the one who smiled was the 35-year-old Serb.

Nole won the set 3-0 won the 22nd Grand Slam of his career and the 10th Australian Open while climbing back to No. 1 in the world rankings.


The match: Novak Djokovic stormed into the final with a terrific serve. Nole pressed for break in Tsitsipas’ first service game, but the 24-year-old Greek erased the two break points and held at love.

The same didn’t happen in the second, however, as Djokovic capitalized on the only break point he created and reached the break. He then held his serve and took a 4-1 lead.

From there, Nole continued to press Tsitsipas and managed to finish the first set 6-3 in total control.


Unlike in the first sentence, Stefanos Tsitsipas presented a completely different face. Steph became more aggressive and in turn put pressure on Djokovic.

The two managed the 5-4 without any problems. There the 24-year-old Greek managed his first break point in the final which, had he won, would have closed the set, but Nole found a way to pull himself out of the sticky situation.


Then both held their serve and went into the tiebreak. Djokovic led 4-1, Tsitsipas fought back and equalized, but there he made a crucial mistake. Nole capitalized on that and then closed the second set 7-6 (4).


The third set started with a break for Tsitsipas. Steph managed a double break point, took the second and took a 1-0 lead. Nole’s response was immediate with a breakback and then he held at love to take a 2-1 lead.

From there, the two tennis players easily held their serves, which put us back into the tie-break. Djokovic led 5-0, Tsitsipas dropped to 6-5, but in the end Nole won again 7-6 (5).
