Nadal with a title in Acapulco overtakes Tsitsipas in the world rankings
Rafael Nadal has qualified for the final in Acapulco and if the English tennis player prevails, Cameron Nori will leave Stefanos Tsitsipas fifth in the world rankings.
Significant changes are expected in the world rankings for men’s tennis next week. The main has already been confirmed after Novak Djokovic, who has been at the top for the last 132 weeks, will be replaced by Daniel Medvedev, who will become the first of the Big 4 to climb to world No. 1 after Andy Roddick in 2003.
Aside from the changing of the guard at No. 1, we may see more changes in the ATP Top10 as Rafael Nadal is just one win away from his return to the Top4.
The 35-year-old Spaniard defeated Daniel Medvedev for the second year in a row to reach the final of the Abierto Mexicano, where he meets Cameron Nori.
If Nadal wins the Brit and wins his 3rd consecutive title in 2022, he will overtake Stefanos Tsitsipas for 4th in the world rankings and avoid the Top2 ahead of the semi-finals of the upcoming major tournaments.
Cameron Nori also has great goalscoring motivation who, if he overcomes in Acapulco and wins the title, will enter the top 10 in the rankings, leaving out Hubert Hurkats who has sealed that position as long as the left-handed Briton doesn’t get his Abierto Mexicano final . Yannick Sinner is in the top 10.
