Nadal beats Medvedev to reach the final
(Acapulco) In a rematch of the epic Australian Open final, Rafael Nadal once again defeated Daniil Medvedev, but this time in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 to earn his place in the Australian Open final. ‘Acapulco.
Nadal thus joins Cameron Norrie in the final of the Mexico Open.
Last month in Australia, the 35-year-old Spaniard trailed two sets to zero before stunning Russian Medvedev to win his 21and career Grand Slam title.
With his semi-final win in Acapulco, Nadal is a perfect 14-0 this season and he will be chasing a fourth title in Acapulco.
Despite the defeat, Medvedev will reach world number one on Monday due to the elimination of Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the Dubai tournament. It will be the first time in over 18 years that the throne of world tennis has been occupied by someone other than Djokovic, Nadal, Roger Federer or Andy Murray.

Earlier, Cameron Norrie continued his strong run in February by upsetting Stefanos Tsitsipas in two identical sets 6-4, 6-4 to earn his way to the Acapulco tournament final.
After losing all four games in January, Norrie went 10-1 in February. He showed up in Mexico after winning the third tournament of his career in Delray Beach.
Norrie, 6and seed in Acapulco, tied his biggest career win by defeating 4and world racket for a second time.

“I served well today. I had a lot of fun during the match, it’s one of my best victories. Hopefully I can keep the good streak alive tomorrow,” Norrie said.
Norrie’s biggest career victory to date was when he defeated Dominic Thiem, then 4and world racket, in the semi-finals of the 2021 Lyon tournament.
The Briton is now 4-20 against opponents from the top 10 global.

The Russian-Kazakh duo Andrey Rublev/Elena Rybakina beat the representative of Monaco, Valentin Vachereau and Iga Szwiatek from Poland in the World Tennis Continental Cup match, which takes place in Shenzhen (China).
The meeting ended with the victory of Rublev and Rybakina representing the world team – 6:4, 6:4. Team World beats Team Europe 5–4.
In the final match of the tournament, Andrei Rublev will meet with Italian Flavio Cobolli. The game will take place on Sunday, December 28 at 18:45 local time.
The tournament takes place December 26–28. The eight participants are divided into two teams: Team Europe and Team World. Each player will play two singles matches, and two doubles matches will also be played.
