(Hua Hin) Canada’s Bianca Andreescu reached the quarter-finals at the Thailand Open on Thursday, winning 6-2, 7-5 over Anastasia Zakharova.

Favorite of the tournament, the 22-year-old Ontarian dominated 4-1 for the breaks, in addition to collecting the four aces of the game.

Andreescu had not reached a quarter-final since June last year in Bad Homburg. Caroline Garcia defeated her in the final at this German tournament.

In the quarterfinals, she will play against Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine, 60e.

This will be their first match.
