Greece without Tsitsipas in the Davis Cup double against Ecuador
Greece will play Ecuador without Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Davis Cup doubles match, while Alexandros Skorilas takes the place of the Greek champions, playing alongside Petros Tsitsipas.
Greece are just one win away from promotion to Davis Cup World Group I and need to win a draw on Sunday (5/2) to eliminate Ecuador and earn a place in the 1st division.
Stefanos Tsitsipas will most likely compete in singles on Sunday, but the same will not happen in doubles (12:00) as Alexandros Skorilas takes his place and Petros Tsitsipas’ partner is on the other side Gonzalo Escobar and Diego Hidalgo.
That’s because national team staff have decided it’s better not to physically strain the world No. 3 as they are already 2-0 up against Ecuador, with Stefanos Tsitsipas expected to compete in singles .
