Tsitsipas lost fourth place in the ranking to Nadal, officially Medvedev is at the top

Rafa Nadal’s win at the Acapulco tournament put him fourth in the world rankings and forced Stefanos Tsitsipas to drop to fifth. A historic premiere for Daniel Medvedev.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has been on a steady upward trajectory in recent years (he even won the double in Acapulco with Lopez on Sunday) but earlier this week he was forced to backtrack a bit.

Because Rafa Nadal won the title at the Acapulco tournament, beating the Englishman Cameron Nouri and securing a place in the ATP world rankings, with the legendary Spaniard in 4th place from 21 Grand Slam titles (polynomial in the Open Era) and Greek rise champion officially drop to fifth place.

From there, there have been changes in the bottom positions of the top ten, with Roublef moving up to 6th, knocking Beretini down to 7th and Siner out of the top ten, now hosting Hurkats.

Medvedev is the first player outside of the Big-4 (Djokovic, Federer, Nadal and Murray) to rise to No. 1 after 18 years, 3 weeks and 6 days, and Andy Roddick in February 2004, the last time we had a 1 was on November 7, 2016 when Andy Murray reached it.

It is noted that Medvedev is the third Russian tennis player to reach the top of the tennis chart after Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Marat Safin, with the former ranked 1st for 6 weeks and the latter ranked 9th with the 26-year-old Medvedev becoming the sixth oldest player , which reaches number 1 for the first time.
