Rising to the top of world tennis, Daniel Medvedev spoke out against the war raging in Ukraine after Vladimir Putin’s intervention. The Russian champions separated their position from invading their country in a message on social media.
“Do you all remember what I said after the Australian Open final? This story about me, about my childhood dreams. And today I want to speak on behalf of all the children of the world. They all have dreams, their life is just beginning. You have so many wonderful experiences to live through: your first friends, your first big emotions. Everything they feel and see is the first time in their lives.
Therefore I would like to ask for peace in the world, for peace between countries. Children are born with an innate trust in the world, they believe in everything: in people, in security and justice, in their chances in life. “Let’s unite and show them that it’s true, because no child in the world should stop dreaming.”
