Medvedev: ‘Huge honour, I climbed to No. 1 but I have mixed feelings about what’s happening in Ukraine’
27-year-old Russian tennis player and world no.
New ATP World No. 1 Daniel Medvedev took to his personal Twitter account to express his dissatisfaction with the Russo-Ukrainian war, while saying he was proud he had climbed to the top of men’s tennis with this week.
More specifically, the 27-year-old Russian tennis player wrote: “It is a great honor to be in this position. I am sure everyone understands that I achieve this achievement by having mixed feelings about what is happening this week.
Thanks to my wife, my team, my sponsors, my friends and everyone who helped me along the way. “It’s been a long road and now I’m looking forward to the years to come.”

Russian Karen Khachanov moved from 18th to 17th place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), a new version of which was published on the organization’s website.
The best among Russians remains Daniil Medvedev, located in 13th place, Andrei Rublev is 16th. There have been no changes in the top ten rankings: Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is in the lead, Italian Jannik Sinner is second, and German representative Alexander Zverev is in third.
