The Fernandez sisters lower the flag to double

Canadian Leylah Annie Fernandez and Bianca’s younger sister lost in the doubles on Tuesday at the WTA tournament in Monterrey.

The Fernandes sisters lost in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, to the duo of the American Ingreed Neel and the French Elixane Lechemia.

Neel and Lechemia are the top seed in the competition doubles draw.

Leylah will return to the court in the simple, the one who is the defender of the champion of this tournament in Mexico. He will face Chinese Zheng Qinwe, who is ranked 77th in the world.

For her part, 18-year-old Bianca tried to qualify for the main draw in the simple draw last weekend. However, he lost to the 7th favorite, the German Jule Niemeier.

ATP Awards 2025. Alcaraz vs Sinner: Who was the best? All award winners

Professional Tennis Players Association (ATP) gave awards to players based on the results of the 2025 season.

Carlos Alcaraz, the leader in the world rankings, became the best tennis player of the year. His main rival was Jannik Sinner.

Alcaraz’s former coach Juan Carlos Ferrero (also Carlitos’ second coach Samuel Lopez) has already received the best coach award.

  • Best Greenhouses of the Year – Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool
  • Coach of the Year – Juan Carlos Ferrero (and Samuel Lopez)

  • Favorite of the Year – Jannik Sinner
  • Stefan Edberg Award (for sportsmanship) – Carlos Alcaraz
  • Arthur Ashe Prize (for humanitarian aid) – Andrey Rublev
  • Tournaments of the year – ATP 1000 Cincinnati, ATP 500 Doha, ATP 250 Bostad
  • Match of the Year – Monte Carlos Masters Quarter Finals Carlos Alcaraz – Arthur Fiss [4:6, 7:5, 6:3]

Rublev beat Vachereau at the World Tennis Continental Cup in China

Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev defeated the representative of Monaco, Valentin Vachereau, at the World Tennis Continental Cup tournament in Shenzhen (China).

Rublev, representing the world team, beat Vachereau from the European team with a score of 2:6, 7:6 (7:5), 10:7.

The overall score at the tournament was 3:2 in favor of the world team.

Rublev’s next opponent will be Italian Flavio Cobolli, Vachereau will face Zhang Zhizhen from China. Both meetings will take place on Sunday.

The tournament takes place December 26–28. The eight participants are divided into two teams: Team Europe and Team World. Each player will play two singles matches, and two doubles matches will also be played.
