Russian tennis player Anastasia Potapova admitted that she adequately refers to frequent comparisons with former eighth racket of the world Anna Kournikova.
– Regarding comparisons … And what do we want? Blonde, long hair, Russian, tall – a typical tennis player from our country. It’s even that type. And after me, some young girls will be compared with someone else. This is absolutely normal, I treat adequately. Of course, I want people to look at me and remember that I am Anastasia Potapova, not Anna Kournikova. If you open the comments, you can go crazy how many reviews like “Anna 2.0” are left there. I can’t say it makes me angry, but I’m not happy either. I would like to just write “Potapov 1.0”. On February 12, Potapova won the Upper Austria Ladies Linz tournament for over $250,000 in prize money.
41-year-old Kournikova is the former world No. 1 in doubles. The Russian has won the Australian Open twice with Swiss Martina Hingis.
