On Tuesday morning, Sakkari meets Pliskova for the Dubai tournament
Maria Sakkari (No. 7) will meet Karolina Pliskova (No. 18) at the tournament’s premiere in Dubai, the game will take place on Tuesday morning (February 21).
Maria Sakkari (No.7) meets Karolina Pliskova (No.18) on her debut in Dubai, with the Czech and former world No. 1 beating her compatriot Marketa Vodrusova 6-3, 6-4 for the 1st round of the tournament and is preparing for the next stage against the Greek tennis player.
The game will take place early on Tuesday (02/21). According to the WTA, the match will take place on Court 1 and is the first match of the program, opening at 10:00 a.m.
Sakkari and Pliskova face off for the fifth time in their careers, with the two tennis players claiming two wins each. In their last meeting last season in Toronto, Pliskova won in three sets after a dramatic game.
For Sakkari, this is her third appearance in the main draw of the event, with the world No. 7 still without a win, while she was defeated by Czech Barbora Krejcikova in her last appearance of 2021.
For her part, Pliskova was a finalist at the event in 2015 and since then and up until last year she has not progressed past the quarterfinals.
