Novak Djokovic will be able to defend the title he won at Roland Garros last year, as the French government decided to reopen the tournament from June 14.

The trip to Australia in early 2022 turned out to be a nightmare for him as the country’s strict regulations on the unvaccinated denied Novak Djokovic the opportunity to claim the Australian Open and led to his deportation.

However, a few months later, the situation appears to be changing in terms of medical protocols and this benefits the Serb, who insists on his decision not to go ahead with the vaccination.

As has become known, French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced on Wednesday (March 3rd) that from March 14th the mandatory use of masks indoors (including means of transport) and the so-called Super Green Pass would no longer be valid. .

Where Super Green Pass is essentially the European digital certificate for the coronavirus that will allow the – unvaccinated – Djokovic to compete at the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo (April 9-17) from the moment it is no longer required ) and in particular to participate in Roland Garros (May 22 – June 5), the second major Grand Slam of the year where the presence of “Nole” was threatened.

This means he can travel to France normally and try to defend the title he won last year by beating Rafa Nadal. If successful, he will take him to the top alongside the Spaniard with 21 titles in the Open Era.
