Barty: Except Indian Wells and Miami Open, Australia

Ashley Barty announced that she will not be playing at the Indian Wells or the Miami Open due to her injury.

Melbourne’s finalist, Daniel Collins, was also eliminated from the event.

Apart from the BNP Paribas Open, Barty has withdrawn from the Miami Open which will follow at the end of March.

“Unfortunately my body didn’t come back the way I would have liked after the Australian Open and I didn’t have the opportunity to properly prepare for Indian Wells and Miami. I don’t think I have the level to win these tournaments so I’ve decided to retire from both events. “I really like these tournaments and I’m sad I won’t be playing but I’m putting my body first,” Barty said in a statement.

The 24-year-old Australian has yet to play on the WTA Tour after beating Daniel Collins 6-3, 7-6 (2) in the Australian Open final

Barty is expected to be back in action April 11-17 in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifier.
