Rublev beat himself with a racket until he bled. And saved a dead match

The Russian tennis player left the court with a hematoma, but in a good mood.

Andrei Rublev went to the Dubai Tennis Championship as the current winner of the tournament. It seemed that one of the favorites should not have experienced any problems on the court until the very late rounds, but the second round match almost ended in failure.

To return to the game, Rublev had to land several hard blows and smash his knee into blood. After such an emotional shake-up, Andrei did not give up the victory!

Portion of cheerfulness

In the second round of the tennis tournament in Dubai, Rublev was to meet on the court with the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina. Our athlete received the second seed number, and therefore in the next game many considered him as a clear favorite. In fact, the Olympic champion Tokyo in the mixed doubles had difficulties at the very beginning of the game.

In the first set, Rublev lost from the start in two games on his serve and got very nervous. And so succumbed to emotions that even came to self-mutilation. In the hearts of the Russian tennis player struck three strong blows with a racket on his own left knee and smashed it into the blood. It is unlikely that a particular joint was to blame for the failures of the athlete, but not to throw out anger at others in such a situation …

However, the effect of this emotional discharge was not immediately felt. Andrey lost the first set almost without a chance – 1:6. But then, perhaps, the battered organism began to gradually turn on, and the current champion of the tournament began to step closer to victory. It cannot be said that the game was easy for Rublev, but at key moments the Russian acted more collected and waited for the opponent to make a mistake.

In the second set it came to a tie-break. The Spaniard led 6:1, Davidovich-Fokina’s personal fans were looking forward to success, but it was too early to rejoice. Andrey returned to wrestling and earned a set point. The opponent made a mistake when serving, thanks to which the Russian managed to equalize the score in the match. Rublev again succumbed to emotions, but this time already positive – he shouted at the top of his voice, not at all embarrassed by the close attention of television cameras.

At the end of the third set, the scoreboard again showed a score of 6:6, which means that here, too, the participants of the match were expected to have a nervous ending. At the tie-break, Davidovich-Fokin stopped coping with emotions, who for some reason began to waste his nerves on useless conversations with the judges. As a result, Andrey earned five match points and did not miss the victory. After the Spaniard’s final mistake, Rublev triumphed. Our tennis player left the court with a bruise on his knee, but in a great mood. Now he is facing a confrontation with Karen Khachanov’s offender, the Dutchman Botik van de Zandshulp.
