American tennis player Kathy Wolynets (WTA 92) was defeated in the 1/8 finals of the WTA 250 series tough tournament held in Austin (USA). Anastasia Potapova (WTA 28) in three sets of 2 hours 19 minutes from Russia.

Potapova beat Katie 5-0 in the third set, but Volynets made an incredible comeback, winning 7 games in a row.
Note that Volynets are of Ukrainian origin. The Wolynets family moved to Walnut Creek, California, USA, where they had relatives, in 1996. This is where Katie was born. The tennis player’s parents are Andrey (Andrew) and Anna, and his older brother is Andrey. They were born in Ukraine. The athlete’s father worked as an anesthesiologist in Ukraine and loved to play table tennis during his training, his mother was a professional swimmer, and his brother played tennis in the USA at UC Davis.
In the quarterfinals of the tournament, Katy will play with the winner Payton Stearns – Miriam Bjorklund.
