22-year-old Iga Sventek started the 50th week in a row as the world champion.

If you remember, she made her debut in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings on April 4, 2022. Then Ashleigh Barty, who ended her career, was removed from the rating. Since then, Sventek has not left the top position.

Iga is number 1 on the WTA roster, placing 13th in total weeks. Guaranteed to beat Victoria Azarenka, who has a 51-week lead.

Sventek became the ninth female tennis player in history to top the rankings for 50 consecutive weeks or more. In addition, the Polish woman placed fourth to lead the rankings for 50 or more consecutive weeks, making it the first time she has moved up to that position. Steffi Graf, Martine Hingis and Serena Williams have accomplished this before.
