Novak Djokovic invited to Challenger in Italy
The organizers of the Challenger 125 tournament in San Remo (Italy) invited the first racket of the world Novak Djokovic to the competition, Ubitennis reports.
The Sanremo Tennis Club launched the #NoleComeToSanremo hashtag on social media, adding the caption: “We still have your trophy. We are waiting for you, we want to give it to you and hope to see you again on our courts.”
Clay competitions will be held from March 27 to April 2 – the second week of the Masters in Miami, which the Serb is likely to miss due to a ban on entry into the United States.
Earlier, tennis coach Goran Ivanisevic said that the 35-year-old athlete has not yet withdrawn from the Miami Open, but if the situation does not change, he plans to resume performances at the Masters in Monte Carlo, which will be held April 9-16.
Djokovic won the Challenger at Sanremo in May 2005. In addition, he worked with coach Ricardo Piatti, whose academy is located near San Remo.
