The loss of the first racket of Russia Darya Kasatkina to Varvara Gracheva is associated with a psychological factor, Andrey Olkhovsky, the first Russian champion of the Australian Open and Roland Garros in mixed doubles, told RBC Sport.
Kasatkina lost to compatriot Varvara Gracheva in the third round match of the tournament in Indian Wells (USA). For Gracheva, this is the second consecutive victory over Kasatkina. Earlier this year, she was stronger in the first round of the Australian Open (6:1, 6:1).
– I don’t see anything surprising in the loss, now Daria is showing tennis, which, as I say, now shine, now crackle, sometimes very good, sometimes not very good, such jumps are incomprehensible. Maybe this is due to some kind of psychological state, confidence is not enough. As for Gracheva, I would not say that this is a colossal result. Yes, she is doing well. I would not say that this is a crazy sensation that she beat Kasatkina. Let’s look further,” Olkhovsky said.
