Daniil fell again and injured his hand, but got up and continued on his way to the record.

Ex-first racket of the world Daniil Medvedev continues his return to the top. A successful series of Russians cannot be interrupted by the most uncompromising rivals, unfriendly fans, injuries and nerve problems. In the next Masters game in the USA, our tennis player pulled out a victory in a crazy manner.

Self-talk helped to stay on the path to the record.

Easy start

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev in the ¼ finals of the Masters in Indian Wells met on the court with the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina. The match was not without trouble. The Russian was forced to resort to a medical break. However, this unfortunate moment did not become an obstacle to victory.

Medvedev entered the court after a tough match, in which he managed to knock out the German Alexander Zverev from the fight. The next opponent did not look so dangerous – the 23rd seed from Spain has already jumped above his head, having reached the quarterfinals of the prestigious tournament. And in the first set, it seemed that Davidovich-Fokina had no chance at all in the game against Daniel. The Russian played well on his pitch and as a result won a landslide victory – 6:3.

After an easy start, it turned out that the opponent was not so simple, and Daniil would not be able to go through the whole match without straining. The Spaniard, perhaps, coped with the excitement, or simply realized that he had nothing to lose. In any case, after the break, it was already another Davidovich-Fokina, who was not going to give up a single game without a fight. Medvedev, on the contrary, made mistakes, then some kind of nervousness began, which grew into monologues with himself.

Luck stock

The conversations went to the benefit of the Russian, he took three games in a row, but the crisis could not be fully overcome. And then Daniel fell and injured his hand, which affected the course of the draw. The injury did not break Medvedev, but he still had to act against an uncompromising opponent, who was actively supported by the stands.

However, the 23-year-old Spaniard’s supply of luck was not endless. With the score 5:5 in the second set, when the prospect of a tie-break seemed obvious, Davidovich-Fokina managed to outright lose his serve. Medvedev did not miss the chance in the end and not without difficulty, but still snatched victory in the set (7:5) and the match. As it turned out later, the Russian played on painkillers, but even this did not become an obstacle to Daniil’s path to the next title.

The match was absolutely crazy. I could talk about it for 15 minutes, but I’m just very happy to go through such a difficult match in such difficult conditions with the wind, ”the ATP official website quotes Medvedev.

Daniil’s unbeaten streak, which, by the way, began in the confrontation with Davidovich-Fokina, has already reached 18 meetings. In the semi-finals of the tournament in Indian Wells, the Russian tennis player will have to fight with the American Francis Tiafoe. If we manage to beat the opponent and win in the final, our athlete will repeat his own record – 20 victories in a row.
