“Medvedev is the favorite of the semi-final, but Tiafoe can present very good tennis” – Olkhovsky

Andrey Olkhovsky, the winner of two Grand Slam tournaments in mixed doubles, considers Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev to be the favorite of the match with American Francis Tiafoe in the semifinals of the Masters series tournament in Indian Wells (USA).

Earlier, Medvedev defeated the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina in the quarterfinals of the tournament in Indian Wells – 6:3, 7:5. During the meeting, the Russian needed a medical break due to a finger injury. Earlier in the round of 16 game against Alexander Zverev, Medvedev sprained his ankle and also needed medical attention.

– I hope that Daniil will be 100% physically ready. Danya is the favourite. And Tiafoe loves to play for the audience, especially for his own. I don’t think it will be an easy match. Tiafoe does not play in one rhythm: he plays quite diversely. This is a rather difficult opponent in the sense that you do not know what he will offer you today.

Tiafoe still does not have stability at a high level and constant victories, however, in individual matches and tournaments, he can give out very good tennis. Daniil will have to serve very well and, as usual, play without mistakes. Yes, Daniil does not like this court, but at the same time he shows a very good game and won a lot of matches.

I expect a very interesting match. Danya has been playing very well lately, so, naturally, he is a favorite. But Tiafoe can present very good tennis, – Olkhovsky told the “Championship”.

The semi-final game in Indian Wells will take place on Saturday, March 18, and will begin at 21:00 Moscow time. Medvedev has played unbeaten in 18 matches.
