The kick-off between Sakkari and Sabalenka was postponed due to problems with pitch mics and balls
There was a delay in the start of the Indian Wells semifinals between Sakkari and Sabalenka due to problems on the field.
Mini fiasco at Stadium 1 of Indian Wells 1000th Tournament. In particular, there was a delay of 40 minutes at the start of the semi-final between Maria Sakkari and Arina Sambalenka.
The reason is twofold. Initially, there was a problem with the stadium’s sound system and the stadium’s microphones were not working.
The second factor in the delay is the fact that new balls had not yet arrived on the pitch. So there couldn’t even be a warm-up.
In fact, the hawk eye didn’t work either, a problem that was later fixed.
