Vasek Pospisil loses in qualifying
(Indian Wells) Canada’s Vasek Pospisil lost in qualifying in Indian Wells on Wednesday, as Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis won 7-6 (5), 7-5.
Pospisil is ranked 129and at ATP, Kokkinakis 97and.
The Australian has signed 12 aces, six more than the British Columbian.
Pospisil committed five of eight double faults in the game.
Kokkinakis took the break 3-2.
In doubles action, Gabriela Dabrowski of Ottawa and Giuliana Olmos of Mexico face Kveta Peschke and Tereza Mihalikova of the Czech Republic and Slovakia on Wednesday night, respectively.
In singles, Canadians Félix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov have a bye to the second round.
Auger-Aliassime is the ninth seed, Shapovalov the 13thand.
