Former world number one Martina Navratilova has revealed that she has recovered from breast and throat cancer, which was diagnosed in January in the first stage of the disease.

“According to the doctors, I don’t have cancer. I was in a panic for a few days after I found out about the disease, thinking that I might not live until next Christmas, – quotes the words of 66-year-old Navratilova The Guardian, citing an interview with TalkTV.

In 2010, the 18-time Grand Slam winner in all categories for the first time fell ill with breast cancer, six months later, doctors stated remission.

Navratilova holds the record for the longest stay on the first line of the world ranking in doubles (237 weeks).
