In a close match, Stefanos Tsitsipas won a 2-1 set against Christian Garin to qualify for the fourth round of the Miami Open where he will face Karen Khachanov.

Stefanos Tsitsipas reached the fourth round of the Miami Open, winning a close match against Christian Garin in a 2-1 set.

Steph (No. 3) was off the pace and qualifying was decided in detail. The 24-year-old Greek has found his way into qualifying despite not being in the best shape after his injury and meets Karen Khachanov (No.16) in the next round.

The match: Stefanos Tsitsipas and Christian Garin held without much trouble, with Steph making several mistakes that allowed the Chilean to stay in the set.

In the eighth game Stefanos Tsitsipas managed his first two breakballs, he used the second to lead 5: 3. He then held at love without dropping a point to finish the opener 6-3.


At the beginning of the second set, the Chilean tried to surprise Tsitsipas and achieved a triple break point, but the Greek tennis player found a way to react and hold his serve.

The two tennis players had no problems holding their serve in the further set, but in the tenth game Garin managed the break and even without losing a point to 1:1 with 6:4.


In set number three, Stefanos Tsitsipas was the one to create a double break point but Garin erased both to hold.

Then both tried to break, but Stefanos Tsitsipas succeeded in the ninth game. He then served, finishing the set and the match 6-4.

Djokovic wins 400th Grand Slam title

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has made it to the fourth round of the Australian Open, which is taking place in Melbourne.

Fourth seed Djokovic beat Botik van de Zandshulp of the Netherlands 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in the third round. The tennis players spent 2 hours and 44 minutes on the court.

For the 38-year-old Serb, this is his 400th victory in Grand Slam singles tournaments. Previously, Djokovic became the first tennis player in history to win 100 or more games at three different Grand Slam tournaments.

Djokovic’s next opponent will be the winner of the match between Jakub Mensik (Czech Republic, 16th seeded) and Ethan Quinn (USA).

Former world number one Safin will play at the tournament of legends as part of the Australian Open

Former first racket of the world, Russian Marat Safin, will take part in the tournament of legends as part of the Australian Open tennis championship, the press service of the tournament reports.

In addition to Safin, the world team included German Tommy Haas, Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis, Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova, Andrea Petkovic and Angelique Kerber (both from Germany). Patrick Rafter, Lleyton Hewitt, Mark Philippoussis, Samantha Stosur, Alicia Molik and Casey Dellacqua will play for Australia.

Safin is 45 years old, he is the former first racket of the world, winner of two Grand Slam singles tournaments. In the final of the 2005 Australian Open, he beat Hewitt in four sets. Safin retired from acting in 2009.
