STAKHOVSKY: If we start boycott, we will lose Ukrainian tennis
Ukrainian tennis player Sergei Stakhovsky oppose a boycott of competitions if athletes from aggressor countries are allowed to participate.
“Every sport is a different story, a different approach. I can clearly say about tennis that if we stop competing with Russians and Belarusians, we will lose tennis as a sport. It will not happen in Ukraine.
I think Ukrainian athletes should participate in the Olympics. If they qualify there, they deserve it. They will defend the honor of Ukraine.
Even if the invading athletes get there, it will not change the fact that sport in Ukraine must survive and flourish. Of course, this decision must be political, but at the same time, every athlete must make a decision for himself.”
