(Miami) Jannik Sinner, 11e world, qualified for the quarter-finals of the Masters 1000 in Miami, with 6-2, 6-4, the Russian Andrey Rublev (7e), Tuesday in Florida.
The 21-year-old Italian, finalist of the event in 2021, will then face the Dutchman Botic Van De Zandschulp (32e) or the Finn Emil Ruusuvuori (54e).
Sinner, who now leads 3-2 in their confrontations, went it alone in the first set, more sharp and precise, without giving his opponent the slightest opportunity to break.
The 25-year-old Russian didn’t have a single one in the second set either, as Sinner remained intractable, still inspired and determined, finishing his match with 29 winners and just two unforced errors.
