Kyrsta unexpectedly eliminated Sobolenko in the 1/4 finals of the super tournament in Miami.
Romanian tennis player Sorana Kirstya (No. 74 WTA) clearly won the quarterfinals match of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami in poor player status.
In the quarter-finals, Romanian won the Australian Open, beating world number two Arina Sobolenko, who had lost just two games earlier this season, in a row.
Miami. 1/4 final
Sorana Kirstya (Romania) – Arina Sobolenko – 6:4, 6:4
For Sorana, this was her 19th victory over an opponent from the top ten. But before, he had never won against representatives of the top 3, as he lost all 8 such matches.
In the semi-finals, Kyrstea will face the winner of the duel between Ekaterina Alexandrova and Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic).
Note that in a tournament held in a similar category at Indian Wells recently, Romania also played in the 1/4 final but lost to women’s tennis leader Iga Sventek.
