Russian and Belarusian tennis players will have to sign a declaration of neutrality to participate in the Wimbledon tournament in 2023, according to a press release from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).

This will be one of the main conditions for the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus to the Grand Slam tournament.

On Friday, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) announced the admission of Russian and Belarusian tennis players to participate in Wimbledon 2023 in neutral status, subject to several conditions.

In the spring of 2022, the LTA and AELTC announced that Russian and Belarusian tennis players were not allowed to participate in Wimbledon due to the situation in Ukraine. The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) criticized this decision, and later announced that Wimbledon in 2022 will be held without ranking points. Also, the organizers of the tournament in the UK were fined $1 million.

Wimbledon 2023 will take place from 3 to 16 July.
