On Friday, the All England Club and the British Tennis Association lifted bans on Russian and Belarusian players from participating in UK lawn tournaments. This decision was commented on by the vice-president of the Ukrainian Tennis Federation. Evgeny Zukin.

“Of course we’re sorry. This is a step back from what happened last year, but circumstances have not changed. The war continues in the same vein. But in the tennis world, it’s understandable that Wimbledon and the LTA set an example of what needs to be done and the rest of the world doesn’t support it. That’s the biggest problem. The biggest problem is not Wimbledon and LTA The biggest problem is that the rest of the Grand Slams and the rest of the world (this move) do not support it.

And they can’t fight ATP and WTA on their own, who are willing to accept what happened to the Russians and Belarusians playing in the biggest arenas of world tennis. They still continue to be used by Russian and Belarusian propaganda to show others their superiority.

The war is unfolding on a full scale with no signs of stopping anytime soon. So these steps to lift sanctions just show the aggressors that everything is a river of time, which is fundamentally wrong.”
