Miami Open: Medvedev and Shiner for the cup in Florida

On Sunday evening (February 4th, 8:00 p.m.) Danil Medvedev meets Yannick Siner in the final of the Miami Open.

Daniil Medvedev and Yannick Shiner will fight for the Miami Open title at 20:00 (Cosmote Sport 6). Daniil Medvedev, in 5th Finals 2023, will be looking to win the 5th Masters of his career but also his 19th Tour title.

In doing so, he will have an ‘ally’ and tradition against the Italian, as the Russian has won all five duels between them, most recently again in the final, former world No. 1 at the indoor tournament in Rotterdam last February, to prevail 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.

The oxymoron is that the two players will meet for the first time in an outdoor tournament, as all five games played so far have been played on closed courts.

Shiner, who came off an epic semi-final against defending champion Carlos Alcarath, returns to the Florida Finals after 2021, where he was defeated by Hubert Hurkacs, and will seek his first Masters 1000 title as well as his eighth of his career win.

But to do that this time he must beat the most in-form player on the tour, Daniil Medvedev, who has recorded 23 wins in the last 24 games, the only loss coming in the Indian Wells final against Carlos Alcarath.
