Nadal and Alcaraz will miss the Masters in Monte Carlo
Spanish tennis players Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaras will not take part in the Masters series tournament in Monte Carlo.
The 22-time Grand Slam winner has not played since January due to a muscle injury in his left leg.
— I’m still not ready to compete at the highest level. I will not be able to play in one of the most important tournaments of my career – in Monte Carlo. I am not able to play with maximum guarantees and continue the process of preparation, hoping to return soon, Nadal wrote on social networks.
“After two months abroad, I’m glad to be back home, but I’m sad because I ended my last match in Miami with physical discomfort. After a visit to the doctor and an examination, it became clear that I would not be able to go to Monte Carlo. I have post-traumatic arthritis in my left arm and muscular discomfort in my spine. I need rest to prepare for the next tournaments, – Alcaraz commented on his decision.
“Masters” in Monte Carlo will be held from 9 to 16 April, Nadal won this tournament 11 times.
