Elina Svitolina: “WTA should have done more but it’s too late”
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (No. 1081 WTA) has criticized the Women’s Tennis Association for its stance on the war in Ukraine.
“We are afraid, we feel empty. What happened to Lesya Tsurenko is very sad.
People who have not experienced it cannot understand how it happens: when you have no home, you do not feel safe anywhere, when your family stays in Ukraine under the bombs, knowing that Ukrainian cities are destroyed. It is both a sense of fear and a great destruction.
WTA should have done more on many issues. But it’s too late now. Many press releases were made, many interviews were made. But it was useless,” said Svitolina.
Earlier, it was learned that Elina Svitolina received a wild card for the ITF tournament in Switzerland.
