Slovenian tennis player interrupted career due to father’s death
Second racket of Slovenia Kaya Yuvan (No. 123 WTA) announced a hiatus from performances.
The 22-year-old tennis player reported on social networks that this was due to the death of her father, who passed away in December last year.
“Losing someone I love so much is the hardest thing I’ve ever faced, something impossible to prepare for. The grieving process is also very difficult. I almost always feel tired, overwhelmed with emotions, so it is very difficult to train and compete.
My father loved tennis and wanted me to continue after he left. That’s one of the reasons why I continued to play in tournaments after his death. I managed to win a few matches and I’m proud of it. But I realized that I was getting more and more tired.
So I decided to slow down with tournaments. I’ll come back when I’m ready. I will assess the situation every day and every week,” the tennis player wrote.
Yuvan has 7 ITF titles and is ranked 58th in the WTA rankings. She has already earned $1,800,117 in prize money during her career.
