American journalist John Wertheim On his Twitter, he posted an email from the organizers of the Wimbledon turf tournament of the Grand Slam series to Russian and Belarusian tennis players, stating the conditions for admission to the tournament in 2023.

The text of the letter:

“After announcing on 31 March that we plan to accept applications from Russian and Belarusian players, we wanted to give you more information on what is required of you to obtain a UK entry visa this summer in connection with your participation in the championship (including the qualifying rounds).

As we mentioned in our press release, you must confirm that, in accordance with UK government regulation, you will participate in the championship in a “neutral” status, that you will not express your support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine and that you will not receive any funding from Russia. or Belarus, including sponsorship when participating in the championship.

We have included these statements in our Membership Terms and Conditions, which you must sign before AELTC (The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club Limited) can issue you a visa invitation letter.

Please note that any Russian or Belarusian person on your support team will also need to comply with very similar clauses in our guest registration terms and conditions. They will also be required to sign it before the AELTC can issue them a visa invitation letter.

Please note that if you compete in other UK grass court events prior to the Championships, you will need to sign a separate declaration form administered by the ATP or WTA as the case may be. The text of such a statement would be very similar to the statement in the registration conditions of AELTC members.

We are working closely with the UK Home Office to ensure you receive your visa on time for this year’s Championships.”
